EAST LOMBOK, NTBNOW.CO- The importance of digital data security, especially among journalists, aims to prevent hacking by irresponsible parties.
The training on digital data security for journalists in East Lombok Regency is a collaboration between the Indonesian Cyber Media Union (SMSI) of East Lombok, the Indonesian Journalists Alliance (AJI), and the Google News Initiative, held at Bale Wartawan, Selong, on Saturday (24/6).
During the training, the Chairman of SMSI East Lombok, Suhaedi, emphasized the importance of data security training for journalists. It is known that the journalism profession is highly vulnerable to data breaches, whether it be corporate data or personal data.
“This training is the first of its kind conducted in East Lombok for journalists. The participation of the press community is crucial to strengthen the data held by journalists and protect them from irresponsible parties. Our data is easily breached or hacked because it is not properly secured,” explained Suhaedi during the opening of the training.
Meanwhile, Google’s Trainer of Training (ToT), Muhammad Kasim, stated that the training focused on digital security, especially for highly important data.
According to Cem, as Muhammad Kasim is called, the digital systems owned by journalists are highly vulnerable to breaches, especially email accounts and passwords stored on smartphones or laptops.
It is recognized that journalists are constantly engaged with gadgets as part of their daily work.
In addition to data security, various applications and digital technology knowledge can make journalists more professional.
It is undeniable that the theft of personal or corporate data, as stated by the Chairman of AJI NTB, often occurs and becomes a frightening specter. This is because there may be private or confidential data owned by others without the owner’s knowledge. (red)
